It's easy to start a fund at the Delaware County Community Foundation.

You may know which charitable organizations you want to support or you may not. In either case, the Foundation’s staff can help you shape a grant-making program that fits your current circumstances and that carries on your charitable intent forever.

DCCF board members and staff readily make themselves available to meet with you and/or your advisor to help determine the best way for you to leave a legacy to Delaware County.

Gifts During Your Lifetime
Your charitable interests can be supported during your lifetime – and in perpetuity—through your gift.  You will have the satisfaction of seeing your generosity at work, and you can work with DCCF to carry out your charitable objectives.

You can make a gift of cash, stocks, bonds, real estate or other assets. Your gift will qualify for the maximum charitable benefit under the law. With as little as $3,000 in cash or other assets, you can start and name your own fund.  Distributions from the fund, however, cannot begin until the fund reaches $10,000.

You can give in honor of someone or an event such as a wedding anniversary or special birthday, or to memorialize a loved one. Tax deductions are earned at the time of your gift, even if grants awarded from the fund are deferred into the future.

You can make a gift to the Foundation now, get immediate tax benefits, and ensure that you or loved ones receive fixed quarterly or annual payments for life – at rates very attractive in today’s economic climate.

You can place cash or property in a trust that pays annual income to you (or other named beneficiary) for life.  After death, the remainder of the fund transfers to the Delaware County Community Foundation where it is placed in a charitable trust that your clients have selected. You will receive income tax benefits in the year the trust is established.

Future Gifts
DCCF can work with you and your advisor to articulate your wishes for a gift that would come to us after your lifetime.  We accept most planned giving vehicles, including bequests, retirement fund assets and life insurance.  If you decide to leave a planned gift to DCCF, please be sure we know. We want to be sure we have your wishes on record so that we may carry out properly those wishes after your lifetime.

You can designate a gift or portion of your estate to the Foundation, and in many cases, receive a substantial reduction in gift and estate taxes.

You can name the Foundation as the owner or beneficiary of a life insurance policy.  You may also name the Foundation as the beneficiary of all or a portion of your IRA, 401(k) or other retirement plan.  In the future, your gift will be placed in a charitable fund to support your favorite causes- exactly in the way you designate.
